‘The Last of Us’ Season 2: Everything we know so far
Pedro Pascal And Bella Ramsey will return for more post-apocalyptic adventures in HBO’s upcoming second season The last of us.
Based on the 2013 video game of the same name, the series follows Joel (Pascal), a grizzled survivor who is tasked with transporting Ellie (Ramsey) across the country, twenty years after a zombie-like fungus, cordyceps, destroys much of civilization has wiped out. As they continue their journey, the unlikely duo forms a surrogate father-daughter bond along the way.
When the show premiered in January 2023, the series – co-created by Craig Mazin and the game’s writer and creative director, Neil Druckmann – was renewed for season 2 after only two of the season’s nine episodes aired.
The second season is expected to follow the plot of the 2020 video game sequel, The Last of Us Part IIwhich starts a few years after the original story. Although the show has not yet been picked up for a third installment, Mazin previously teased that the series team may need more than one season to properly portray. Part II‘s events.
“The amount of stories left would take us more than a season to tell. But I definitely don’t see this as something that will continue,” he said Collider in January 2023. “We do not have that ambition. Our ambition is to tell the existing story as best as possible in a different medium.”
