Glen Powell transforms into Phony College QB
Hulu has released the first teaser trailer for the new half-hour sports comedy “Chad Powers” starring Glen Powell, who is also co-creator with Michael Waldron. The series, executive produced by Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning through his Omaha Productions banner, will premiere in fall 2025.
The show follows Powell as Russ Holliday, a former NFL quarterback whose career is undermined after behavioral misconduct. In a desperate attempt at a comeback, he “disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers,” according to an official description.
The 14-second teaser features Powell as both Holliday and Powers, and provides a look at the exaggerated prosthetics and Powell’s skills on the field. “Something’s coming,” says Powell as Holliday in the teaser. ‘Something big.’
The series is based on a 2022 sketches produced by Omaha Productions and ESPN+, in which Peyton Manning’s brother, NFL quarterback Eli Manning, disguises himself and participates in walk-on tryouts for the Penn State football team.
Other cast members include Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny and Steve Zahn as Jake Hudson.
Executive producers include Eli Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown and ESPN of Omaha Productions. Waldron and Adam Fasullo are executive producers for Anomaly Pictures. Luvh Rakhe will executive produce and Tony Yacenda will serve as director and executive producer. Powell also serves as an executive producer under his production co-banner Barnstorm Productions.
