Travis Kelce basically shuts down the idea of looking at love
Travis Kelce has never seen the beloved Christmas rom-com Love actually – and he sees no problem with that.
During the Wednesday December 4 episode of him and brother Jason Kelce‘New Heights’ podcast, Travis’ sister-in-law, Kylie Kelceenlisted to recommend a festive film for the duo’s Film Club review series.
“I guess it’s the holidays and all that Love actually is a great movie that you can really enjoy with your partner,” Kylie, 32, who has been married to Jason, 37, since 2018, said in a recording. “Because it’s not like one of your significant others hasn’t asked you to watch it multiple times, and you’ve said ‘no’ every time. So this could be a good excuse to make you watch it.
Jason quickly shut down the idea, saying, “I think we can probably both agree that we’re not doing it Love actually.”
Travis, 35, agreed, throwing some subtle shade at the 2003 film.
“Yes, probably not. But I do love a really good Christmas movie,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said.
After “New Heights” intern Brandon Borders agreed, saying that Kylie offered to be on the podcast if the brothers agreed to review the podcast Love actuallyJason suggested that Kylie cover the film on her own newly announced podcast, ‘Not Gonna Lie.’ He even offered to be Kylie’s guest so Travis could avoid watching the movie.
“Yes, don’t torture me; torture your husband,” Travis joked. “I’m an innocent bystander here, Ky. Don’t come after me.”
Jason and Travis also discussed the Love actually cast, got excited about the “Mr. Bean” (Rowan Atkinson) cameo and wonder if Liam Neeson‘s involvement meant that it was ‘like a Taken movie.” Jason asked if Travis had a personal introduction to it Hugh Grant – who plays David the Prime Minister in the film – would ensure that the film becomes ‘the same’.
Travis, who took tequila shots with Grant, 64, at one of his girlfriends Taylor Swift‘S Eras tour shows at London’s Wembley Stadium in June, Jason assured that would not be a problem.
‘Since then I’ve seen two or three films with Hugh in them [meeting him] and I love them all. There’s something in knowing that man, man,” Travis said. “I never said we wouldn’t like the movie, I just said I don’t want to review it.”
But toward the end of the brothers’ conversation, Jason said, “We’re going to do that.” Love actually.”
While Travis has never seen the holiday film – which also stars him Colin Firth, Laura Linney, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Keira Knightley And Bill Nighy — Swift, 34, called it her favorite movie during her Fashion’73 Questions’ interview in 2016.
The singer, who has been dating Travis since the summer of 2023, also called herself a “longtime Hugh Grant Stan” when responding to the actor’s praise for her. Eras tour show.
Grant took to Thank you so much from an aging London boy, woman and excited 8 year old #halfgirlhalfbracelet.”
Swift responded that the tweet was “really important to my culture” because of her admiration for Grant’s work.
