Elefantec and Jose Bastón’s Arturo Yepez 2bLatam expand alliance
Following the successful launch of their digital venture enchufe.tv México early this year, partners Arturo Yepez of Ecuador-based 2bLatam and José “Pepe” Bastón of Elefantec Global are gearing up for a strategic expansion.
This new initiative will expand 2bLatam’s enchufe.tv universe beyond the digital domain and venture into streaming platforms, cinema and branded entertainment. The goal is to engage audiences in Mexico and the United States with innovative content that combines humor, creativity and value, meeting the needs of leading brands in the region, they emphasized.
“We are in an era where the major industry players are turning their attention back to content creators and social media. This expanded agreement with Elefantec is another step in our journey to become the benchmark for Spanish-language comedy production worldwide,” said Yepez.
The partnership now includes original series and films based on enchufe.tv’s characters, using the unique characteristics of Mexicans and Latinos in the US to connect with audiences. It will also focus on creating brand-driven content that combines entertainment with enchufe.tv’s signature humor, building strong digital communities.
2bLatam’s YouTube channel enchufe.tv, which has more than 27 million subscribers and reaches more than 60 million subscribers on social media, is touted as the world’s number one Spanish-language comedy sketch channel.
Among the custom sketches created for enchufe.TV Mexico are “Latin World War (Mexico vs. Ecuador),” which has been viewed 1.4 million times, and “Raiders of the Adult Toy,” an Indiana Jones-inspired parody, which has nearly a million views and over 3,000 comments.
“Since we started our collaboration on the co-production of the first season of sketches for enchufe.tv México, we realized the enormous potential of this IP, especially in Mexico and the US Spanish market. This new agreement will allow us to develop projects aimed at young audiences, a very important segment for all media,” said Bastón.
One of enchufe.tv’s most successful sketches is a parody of the Japanese manga series “Captain Tsubasa,” titled “Super Campeones” (“Super Champions”), which has been viewed more than 100 million times. Given the region’s predominantly young population, these sketch comedies have quickly gained enormous popularity.
The challenge now is to translate their enchufe.tv IP into equally successful feature films and series, with branded entertainment as the primary focus.
Founded by Bastón, a former Televisa executive, Elefantec Global is behind such notable productions as “Bosé” for Paramount+ in Latin America, “La rebellion” for ViX+ and CNN’s “Eva Longoria, Searching for Mexico.”
2bLatam manages a network of more than 500 talents in the region and specializes in branded content, digital strategies and producing series and films for a young audience.
