QVC renews Busy Philipp’s talk show ‘Busy This Week’ for season 2
QVC has given a second season order to its late night talk series “Busy This Week,” as the home shopping giant expands its content mix to reach new viewers through its QVC+ and HSN+ streaming platforms.
Hosted by actor Busy Philipps, “Busy This Week” has been a high-profile example of efforts within Qurate Retail Group, the parent company of QVC and HSN, to embrace a new generation of celebrities and a broader range of programming and genres for its retail activities. -centric programming. The brands have teamed up with personalities like Jennie Garth and Ana Gasteyer in recent months for recurring appearances on the services. Garth and Gasteyer will serve as judges on the second season of the QVC+/HSN+ series “The Ultimate Gift Wrapping Challenge,” beginning November 2.
Qurate Retail Group also recently entered into an agreement with USA Pickleball to cover matches and tournaments of the fast-emerging sport, including a livestream of the USA Pickleball National Championships taking place November 9-17.
“Busy This Week” plays like a traditional talk show with Philipps yakking with Tina Fey, Bette Midler and other notable guests. The series is produced by Caissie St. Onge and Michael Gleason. St. Onge, who worked with Philipps on her E! late-night series, is also regularly seen on camera with Philipps and guests. Retail elements are woven into the conversation in an organic way, rather than the traditional point-shoot-sell approach of old-fashioned home shopping TV.
“At QVC+ and HSN+, we have found a way to integrate the joy that comes from shopping for yourself and others into a show that is just as entertaining as one designed solely to entertain. People assume that ‘selling’ means less entertaining, but ‘Busy This Week’ has proven that idea wrong,” said Stacie Tedesco, VP of streaming at Qurate Retail Group. “The renewal of season two of ‘Busy This Week’ is a strong endorsement of how our innovative and engaging approach to shoppable entertainment is resonating with customers. We are excited to continue experimenting in the streaming world with our creative partner, Busy Philipps, who is always willing to try new things while staying true to her awesome self.”
