Jill Biden offers $35,000 for chance at walk-on role with heated rivalry

Jill Biden is a fan of ‘Heated Rivalry’.

So much so that just minutes ago during the live auction at the NYC LGBT Community Center’s Center Dinner, the former First Lady offered $35,000 for a walk-on role in the second season of the queer hockey series, along with dinner with the cast, according to sources.

However, she was outbid. The package was eventually sold twice to two bidders for $125,000 each.

“Heated Rivalry” creator Jacob Tierney and his production partner Brendan Brady (who was unable to attend the gala) were honored with the Cultural Impact Award at the event. They received the award from Rachel Reid, author of the queer hockey book series ‘Game Changers’.

“Tierney and Brady have elevated and centered queer characters as fully realized leaders whose desires, conflicts and tenderness are handled with dignity,” said Center CEO Dr. Carla Smith prior to the event. “By championing our voices, they have brought queer joy and storytelling to mainstream media and created work that affirms and advances our community.”

Ken Ohashi, CEO of Brooks Brothers, was also honored. Melanie C, aka Sporty Spice of the Spice Girls, performed.

Season 2 of “Heated Rivalry,” an adaptation of Reid’s book “The Long Game,” is expected to premiere on HBO Max in April 2027. Filming will begin this summer with the return of stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams.

“I’m in a room writing all day,” Tierney told me at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles in early March, adding that he would stay “faithful” to the book.

“I think I realized a while ago that I need to get back to where my head was when I first wrote, which was loving these books and trying to make the smartest thing out of them,” Tierney said.

In addition to Williams and Storrie, the cast of “Heated Rivalry” includes François Arnaud, Robbie GK, Christina Chang, Dylan Walsh, Nadine Bhabha, Sophie Nélisse and Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova.
