Upgraded Koningsdam returns ahead of Alaska season | News

Holland America Line’s Koningsdam is back in service after a two-week dry dock in the Bahamas. The Pinnacle-class ship has undergone a series of improvements ahead of the upcoming season in Alaska.

The line has added five new, larger staterooms with ocean views. Each cabin sleeps up to four guests and features two beds that convert into a queen-size bed, along with a double sofa bed. Four of the staterooms are connected, allowing larger groups to book together. 22 Vista Suites were also upgraded with new sofa beds.

Certain staterooms also received new carpets.

A series of interior updates and upgrades have been made to the shared guest areas. Additional seating has been added to the Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone Lounge music venues, while more seating has been created in the area connecting the two, allowing guests from either side to attend shows.

At specialty restaurants Pinnacle Grill, Sel de Mer and Club Orange, fixed tables have been replaced with flexible, movable seating, allowing for a range of configurations to better accommodate different group sizes and guest preferences.

The jewelry retail space onboard Effy now features new flooring, wall finishes, lighting and display fixtures, along with improved signage and merchandising elements. The upgrades have previously been carried out on both the Westerdam and the Zuiderdam.

Finally, the onboard casino has been expanded to create a more spacious gaming environment for guests, the ship’s fitness center has received updated exercise equipment, and new carpeting has been installed in several public areas.

Koningsdam is now on his final Caribbean voyage of the season before transiting the Panama Canal and heading to Alaska for the summer. Alaska voyages run from April to September and prices start from £649pp.
