Tim Meadows Joins CBS Comedy Pilot ‘DMV’

Tim Meadows to Star in CBS Comedy Pilot ‘DMV’ Variety has learned.

The single-camera comedy pilot was originally announced to the network in August. The show is based on a short story by Katherine Heiny. The official logline states that the show “takes place in the place everyone fears most: the DMV. Our quirky and lovable characters earn minimum wage and do thankless work that irritates customers before they even walk through the door. It’s a good thing they have each other.”

Meadows will appear in the role of Gregg. Gregg is described as “a former high school English teacher. Gregg is the examiner who prefers to get through the driving tests, and the day, as quickly as possible. Gregg has an uncanny ability to make keen observations of those around him, is sardonic, defeated and would like nothing more than to retire.”

Meadows is best known for his time on “Saturday Night Live,” where he was a cast member for ten seasons. During his time on “SNL,” he repeatedly played the character Leon Phelps, aka “The Ladies Man,” with Meadows starring in and co-writing a “Ladies Man” film in 2000. Meadows also starred in films such as “Mean Girls,” “Grown Ups,” “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping” and “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.” He is also known for his role as John Glascott in the ABC comedy ‘The Goldbergs’ and its spin-off ‘Schooled’, and has appeared in shows such as ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘The Office’ and ‘Miracle Workers ‘.
