The Dyrt publishes seven road trip guides covering all of America | News

The Dyrt, the best campgrounds app built by the largest RV and camping community in the US, has created comprehensive road trip guides to some of the most iconic routes in the country – and the best campsites along those routes – from coast to coast.

Each road trip guide includes a brief history of the route, some key facts about it, the recommended length of the trip considering time for exploration, and the best time of year to hit the road. There are seven guides in total, and each guide features 10 highly rated campsites.

Complete Guides to the Dyrt’s Road Trip Collection:

Atlantic Coast Highway – Cape May, NJ to Key West, FL
Great Northern – Bar Harbor, ME to Seattle, WA
The Loneliest Road – Annapolis, MD to West Sacramento, CA
Oregon Trail – Independence, MO to Oregon City, OR
Pacific Coast Highway – Port Angeles, WA to San Diego, CA
Route 66 – Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA
TransAmerica Trail – Port Orford, OR to Yorktown, VA
“There are so many iconic road trips and great camping options in this vast country of ours,” said Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt. “We wanted to combine these two delicious slices of Americana – the best camping stays while traversing the US’s famous roads. Each guide breaks the trips into sections and highlights the best places to pitch your tent or park your gear along the way.”

If we take the Route 66 Complete Road Trip Guide as an example, the total distance is 3,000 kilometers from Chicago to Santa Monica and the recommended time is two to four weeks, preferably in May-June or September-October. The guide points out sights, museums, restaurants and more and gives tips on how to get the most out of the trip.

“The route begins with farmland and small towns, crosses plains, ascends to high desert plateaus and finally ends at the Pacific coast,” according to the Route 66 guide. “Many travelers in the Dyrt community use Route 66 for extended camping trips because it combines history with consistent access to parks and public lands.”

The guides are full of photos, local walks and attractions, links to in-depth articles and of course great campsites. To assist with planning, the Road Trip Collection provides information on fuel and services, seasonal considerations, connectivity, budget considerations, state DOT resources, Bureau of Land Management camping guidelines, and Leave No Trace principles.
