Police called Rob Reiner’s home “a number of times” prior to the murders

Los Angeles Police Department officers were no strangers to visiting Rob Reiner’s home over the years, likely because of his troubled son Nick, who has been accused of violently murdering his parents. RadarOnline.com can reveal.

The police were called to the Everything in the family alum’s $13.5 million mansion in Brentwood, California, at least five times in six years, with their sixth trip coming on December 14, when the lifeless bodies of the legendary Hollywood actor-director and his wife, Michele, were found with their throats slit.

LAPD data obtained by the Daily mail shows police calls for service at Reiners’ home in 2013, 2014, 2017 and two different calls in 2019. Nick occasionally lived in the property’s guest house when he wasn’t in rehab.

The nature of the calls ranged from alleged domestic violence to welfare and mental health checks, believed to involve Nick, who had struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues for years.

“There have been quite a few calls for service at the Reiner home,” an insider close to the department told the outlet. “The West LA Division of LAPD was summoned to that home on many occasions.”

The source added: “Brentwood is a fairly quiet neighborhood. You generally don’t get many calls for home service.”

The trips to the Reiner mansion began with a welfare check at 3:31 a.m. on August 4, 2013, referred to simply as “door” in the police log.

Police were called early in the afternoon of February 2, 2014 to a noise complaint, with “disappeared on arrival” noted in the logs.

A response on May 5, 2017 at 4:04 PM was much worse, as it listed the police code for investigating domestic violence as a reason to go to the Reiner home. This time the log indicated that a report had been made to the police about the visit.

In February 2019, police responded to a welfare check at the home, while in September of that year, the LAPD responded again to respond to a “918M,” code for a mental health check involving a male subject.

Nick was reportedly being treated for schizophrenia at the time of his parents’ murder, after being sent to a $70,000 per month substance abuse and mental illness treatment center. Insiders claimed the former screenwriter was behaving “erratically and dangerously” after his medication was adjusted.

Rob and Michele were said to be so scared of leaving him home alone that they took Nick to Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on December 13, hours before the couple was found murdered.

During the celebration, Nick reportedly “freaked out” the A-list guests with his antisocial behavior, which resulted in a “loud argument” between father and son.

Rob and Michele left shortly afterwards and were found dead in their bed by their daughter Romy the next day around 3:30 pm.

Although a family friend could not confirm or deny the alleged fight at the holiday party, he believed the situation “misinterpreted‘ and ‘exaggerated’.

Before leaving O’Brien’s company, the When Harry met Sally The director reportedly told his friends that he had become terrified of his son and that he was afraid Nick might harm him.

‘I’m terrified of it [Nick]. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I’m scared for my son. I think my own son could hurt me,” one guest claimed Rob shared after his fight with Nick.

Rob and Michele sent their son to rehab at least 18 times from the age of 15. Nick confessed in several podcast interviews to the large amounts of marijuana, cocaine, meth and heroin he had used in his short life, including vandalizing his parents’ guest house during a drug-fueled rampage.
