Cooper wants to marry Ariana, Cami and Tommy Fight
SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from Season 2, Episode 5 of “Landman,” “The Pirate Dinner,” which premiered Sunday, December 14 on Paramount+.
At one point in this week’s episode of “Landman,” Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) gets so frustrated that he starts crashing into his truck. It makes sense! His son Cooper (Jacob Lofland) makes some very reckless decisions, both in his personal and professional life; his father, TL (Sam Elliott), moves in; he is left out of business decisions by his team; and Angela (Ali Larter) plans another themed dinner. Will Tommy be able to help keep his family and business in order? Find out with this week’s summary.

- ‘Until he dies.’ Oh, Tommy, such a way with words.
- Nate (Colm Feore), stop trying to throw TL out of the house! Nobody asked you!
- Angela just wants to have fun and throw parties! Let her live.
- Ooh, what does grilled blue crab taste like? It sounds wonderful.
- Why does Tommy suddenly know the etymology of ‘buccaneers’?
- “Gulf of America now, honey.” “I don’t give a fuck what they call it.” Will MAGA viewers be shocked by WOKE TOMMY?
- Oh, Cooper acting rich before getting a check is a big red flag.
- Why can’t Ariana (Paulina Chavez) give Cooper her father’s address? Is a scavenger hunt part of a Catholic proposal?
- Oh my god, Cooper is so screwed. I’m stressed.
- Tommy is being extremely generous to Cooper by bringing him on board. Will his instincts prove to be pure blind luck?
- “If she swallowed a lump of coal, she would make a diamond in three days” is a great folk description of an excited person.
- You know Tommy is frustrated when he repeatedly attacks his trusty truck.
- I love these always noisy elderly people in the retirement home. They’re really worried about Angela’s sex life!
- Phew, MAGA people will feel welcome again now that Tommy described “The View” as “A bunch of pissed off millionaires whining about how much they hate millionaires and Trump and men and you and me and everyone else they worry about.”
- It would be great to see TL kick Tommy’s ass. I definitely saw it happening!
- “You have a cool voice.” I like the respect for Elliott.
- Damn, TL is flirting with Shelby (Audrey McGraw)? They should connect!
- Wow, Rebecca (Kayla Wallace) and M-Tex just got screwed so quickly during that meeting. Their lenders don’t mess around anymore!
- “Well, that’s not what your boss says. She says you need a partner pretty bad.” Phew, Gallino (Andy Garcia) knows exactly how to twist the knife in Tommy.
- Who knew Gallino was a putting phenomenon?
- Aww, it’s so nice to see TL getting a kick out of Angela and Ainsley (Michelle Randolph). They are fun!
- The bandage on Alan (Jim Meskimen) is a great callback to the Episode 3 incident at the Cattlemen’s Club.
- “I’m going to win this too.” Uh oh, Cami (Demi Moore)…you’re a little arrogant about a cartel.
- Wow, it was hard to watch Cami control Tommy so deliberately. “Don’t ever call me to a meeting again.” To be fair, Tommy did tell her to step up her game when she took over the company!
- Oh, okay: I guess Cooper getting permission to marry Ariana wasn’t that big of a deal. Crisis averted!
- Hell, Tommy lost both his sense of smell and taste at 30? No wonder he’s a grump!
- Angela killed it with the Pirate Dinner. No notes.
- Big laughs with Rebecca’s pirate outfit.
- Even Tommy is laughing and having fun. Great ending to the episode!
