Leonardo DiCaprio canceled Fear Reveal

Sources say DiCaprio’s withdrawal now typically begins the moment a promotional tour ends, when he disappears from events, declines invitations and confines himself to a small circle of trusted friends in his Los Angeles home.

Speak with TIME magazine After being named the magazine’s Entertainer of the Year, DiCaprio admitted about life in the spotlight: “It’s been a balance that I’ve dealt with my entire adult life, and I’m still no expert. I guess my simple philosophy is to only go out and do something if you have something to say, or if you have something to show. Otherwise, just disappear as much as possible.”

A source says DiCaprio’s instinct is to withdraw “further than ever” from public life.

He added: ‘Leo has realized that he functions best when he distances himself completely. He wants peace, he wants silence, and he doesn’t pretend otherwise.’

The actor’s instinct to disappear goes back to the global frenzy unleashed by his role in Titanic in 1997.

DiCaprio recalled of the frenzy: “I thought, OK, how can I have a long career? Because I love what I do, and I feel like the best way to have a long career is to get out of people’s attention.”
