Donald Trump breaks the X-silence with campaign videos and Hypes interview with Elon Musk
Former US President Donald Trump is back on the social media platform that launched him – breaking a year-long silence on X to drop new campaign videos and hype his next big interview.
A two-and-a-half-minute ad posted Monday morning not only serves to promote Trump’s campaign, but you can’t ignore the timing of him using X after such a long hiatus. It’s no coincidence that X is the owner Elon Musk will interview Trump on Monday night during a livestream … which will be hosted on Trump’s X-page.
Trump typically saves his social posts for his own platform, Truth Social or TikTok — and hasn’t posted to X since August 2023, when he proudly uploaded his Georgia mugshotand wrote, “Never Surrender”…raising millions for his campaign.
Are you better off now than when I was president?
Our economy is broken. Our border has been erased. We are a nation in decline.
Make the American Dream AFFORDABLE again. Make America SAFE again. Make America GREAT again! #TrumpOnX

@realDonaldTrump
Since he posted his campaign video… #TrumpOnX has been trending, and he’s posted several more times, including a direct promo for his face-to-face with Elon. Plug, plug, plug!
The question is who benefits more from Trump’s wave of X posts: his campaign or X, which Elon himself admits is struggling to retain advertisers.
By 2021, Trump’s phone was essentially reduced to a brick, days after the January 6 riots — when Facebook, TikTok, Twitter (you know, the platform Elon rebranded as X), IG, and other social media sites restricted or outright prohibited of posts.
Elon Trump recovered to X in November 2022…just like Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook and IG – with restrictions – in January 2023. Meta lifted those restrictions in July of this year.
