Meghan Markle ridiculed for ‘selling Christmas candles without a wick’

Is Meghan Markle the Grinch who stole Christmas? One of the actress’s As Ever holiday products certainly didn’t arrive very cheerfully when a podcaster unwrapped it and made a shocking discovery: RadarOnline.com can reveal.
Link Lauren, host of Spot on with Link Laurentried out Markle’s Christmas collection items and was shocked to discover that the $64 Signature Candle No. 084 arrived without a wick or any way to light it.
Lauren, 26, is also a frequent commentator on the royal family and is admittedly not Markle’s biggest fan. But he was curious about the fruit spreads from her holiday collection and the scent of her candles.
While unpacking Monday, November 10’s episode, Lauren looked down, at first stunned, then burst out laughing and revealed, “Y’all, there’s no fuse!”
He held it up to the camera so viewers could see the small hole in the center where a fuse should have been, and even asked his producer if she saw the same thing.
“Am I crazy? Where is the thing I’m lighting? This must be a joke,” he exclaimed.
Lauren assured viewers it wasn’t a “stunt,” saying, “There’s literally nothing to light here.”
He added, “No, it’s not taped,” when his producer asked the question through his earpiece.
“This looks like Meghan Markle’s career… launch failure,” Lauren snapped.
As for the aroma, which was supposed to consist of water lotus, sandalwood and California poppy, Lauren noted, “It smells no different than a Yankee candle you can get at CVS.”
While the host gave positive feedback, saying it smelled “feminine,” he added about the candle itself, “It’s heavy.” He’s heavy. It doesn’t feel cheap. I give her all the credit for that.”
Lauren sneered, “But for me it’s a no. I will say this. If I’m paying $64 for a candle, it better have a wick. Okay? There better be something I can really light.”
Markle’s As Ever fruit spreads didn’t do well either.
“The packaging was cheap. Okay, there was all this wrinkled paper on the package and I threw most of it away,” Lauren shared of the trio of strawberry, raspberry and orange marmalade jars, noting that Oprah Winfrey included them on her 2025 favorite holiday list.
“When I got the trio of spreads for the holidays, I thought they would come in a nice little package. They were actually wrapped in cheap crumpled paper and thrown into a box,” he said, holding up the paper.
When it came to proofs, Lauren promised, “I have to say I’m a very objective person, okay? If they’re good, I’ll separate the art from the artist,” referencing his previous criticism of Markle, 44.
Lauren wasn’t overly impressed with the strawberry spread, saying, “It tastes like Smuckers… It’s nothing groundbreaking. You could put it on toast in the morning.”
He claimed the orange marmalade “tastes like crap” and called it “diabolical,” adding that it was “literally the worst thing I’ve ever swallowed,” while he didn’t feel much love – or hate – for the raspberry.
Finally, Lauren tried Markle’s beloved dried flower sprinkles, which cost $15 for a small tub.
After nibbling on the decorative accents, he said they “tasted like straw,” adding, “This is a no for me too… I feel like I’m eating printer paper.”
Markle was heavily mocked during the run of her Netflix lifestyle series, With love, Meghanfor sprinkling dried flower sprinkles on almost every item she prepared in the kitchen, telling viewers it was an easy way to “take the recipes to the next level.”
