Eboni K. Williams predicts Osefos will serve time on fraud charges

Real Housewives of New York alum Eboni K. Williams weighs in Real Housewives of Potomac’s Wendy Osef And by Eddie Osefo possible future after being arrested for alleged fraud.
“If convicted, they will serve a prison sentence,” 42-year-old Eboni predicted when he appeared on Carlos King’s episode of Thursday, October 16 “Reality with the King” podcast.
“Because they’re rich, famous, black people,” she continued.
Eboni said comments made by the arresting sheriff’s office on Oct. 10 give her reason to believe the status and race of the Osefos could potentially play a role in the outcome of their respective cases.
“When the prosecutor came out, one of the first things out of his mouth was, ‘Don’t think of insurance fraud as a victimless crime,’” she explained. “He didn’t have to say that. That made the first premise of his comments to be that this affects you and me. This affects every American who has an insurance policy in any capacity, and we are all negatively affected when people engage in committing insurance fraud.”
The Osefos were arrested Oct. 9 on charges of insurance fraud, conspiracy fraud and making false statements to a police officer, according to court documents obtained by We weekly. Wendy, 41, is currently facing 16 charges, including seven felonies, while Eddie, 41, faces a total of 18 charges, including nine felonies. Both separately posted $50,000 bonds and were released on October 10.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are safe at home with their families and in good spirits,” a representative for the couple said. Us in a statement at the time, confirming their arrest and subsequent release. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans and colleagues. The Osefos, along with their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully request privacy as they focus on their family and the upcoming legal proceedings.”
Court documents show the couple previously reported a burglary at their home in April 2024. The couple told authorities that they returned home after a trip to Jamaica to find several designer handbags and jewelry missing.
“There was a screen with damage on the roof and the window was unlocked. To get in or out of that window you have to step on the toilet. The toilet lid was down and there was no debris on it. When sheriff’s office personnel stepped on the roof and re-entered the house, they tracked the ‘grit’ from the roof back in,” the documents read. “The Osefos had an ADT system and a ring camera. The Osefos activated the ADT alarm system when they went on holiday. During the time they were away, no movement was detected in the home. There was activity, such as package delivery, on the ring camera which was monitored remotely by the Osefos.”

“He was asked if any of the items on the list had been returned, which he denied. He was asked if he had other insurance, but he did not inform Homesite and Jewelers that he was also making a claim with Travelers Insurance.”
Authorities began questioning the couple’s story after discovering that some of the allegedly stolen items had been purchased before the alleged robbery and returned for full refunds. They gathered evidence from store records, social media posts and email history to reportedly confirm that a $1,450 Dior shirt reported missing was returned to a store for a refund on January 14, 2023, while a Gucci leather wallet purchased in 2018 was returned two weeks later for a $948.70 refund.
The investigation also revealed that Wendy was photographed wearing her signature diamond anniversary band after the alleged burglary.
Eddie also reportedly sent Wendy an email asking if there were any “additional high-end items we could add to this inventory list (such as Chanel shoes, etc.)?” before reportedly explaining, “I’m trying to get the total above $423,000, which is our policy maximum.”
The pair must appear in court in November.
