AI recruiter Alex raises $17M to automate initial job interviews

Job seekers in all areas can expect that they will soon do much more initial screening interviews. Although that may sound like positive news, this does not mean that there will suddenly be more open positions.

Instead, recruiters, often stuck with determining which applicants are qualified for the next round, outsource the routine screening tasks – such as checking backgrounds, salary needs and availability – to (you guess it) AI.

AlexA startup that builds an AI -recruiter says it already helps companies to keep video interviews and telephone screens.

Aaron Wang (photo of the middle, bottom row), who co-founder of Alex, told WAN about 18 months ago that the Voice AI tool of the startup can do autonomous interviews with applicants shortly after they request a job. “Our AI recruiter does thousands of interviews a day and helps people to be hired at some of the largest companies in the world,” he said.

Although Wang, who previously worked at Facebook and spent time as Kwantal for a hedge fund, refused to call customers, he said that they include Fortune 100 companies, financial institutions, national restaurant chains and Big 4 Accounting firms.

Investors regard the rise of AI interviewers as a trend that many companies will inevitably assume. That conviction led to Alex ‘new series A round of $ 17 million, led by Peak XV Partners. The round included participation of Y Combinator and non -correlated companies, together with various Chief Human Resources Officers (Chros) of nameless Fortune 500 companies and others. This Serie A follows the $ 3 million seed financing of the company, which was led by 1984 last year.

Alex is not only in offering AI recruitment services to companies. The competitors of the startup include other early phase companies such as Heymilo, Converzai and Ribbon.

But for now, Alex is aimed at helping recruiters to free up their time to build relationships with in advance qualified candidates and advising recruitment managers.
