Erik Menendez back in prison after kidney stone hospitalization

Erik Menéndez Return to prison after he was temporarily transferred to a hospital in San Diego last month for what his lawyer described as a ‘serious medical state’.

“My father is out and back in prison, prepared for our upcoming conditional hearing,” Erik’s stepdaughter, Talia MenéndezShared via Instagram stories, TMZ Reported on Sunday 3 August.

Talia previously shared at the end of July that Erik, 54, was admitted to a hospital to treat painful kidney stones. “Today Erik was undergoing his second operation due to complications with both kidneys with several large stones,” she wrote at that time via Instagram stories.

On July 24, Erik’s wife, Tammi Menéndezsaid through X That Erik had undergone two operations and expected a third.

“Today Erik was undergoing a second operation. This operation was successful. He needs a 3rd operation that will hopefully take place soon,” Tammi wrote. “Because Erik is in prison, there are many complications and delays with an operation. Tonight he stays nauseous and, however, he is recovering from an operation.”

She added: “We thank everyone for their good wishes and prayers. Complications take place during an operation, but this is a very stressful time for us. Moreover, we are grateful to the CRT custody and medical staff who did their best in this difficult situation.”

On July 22, Erik and his brother Lyle Menéndezlawyer, Mark GeragosTMZ told that Erik experienced a medical emergency, although he was not further informed of Erik in the exact state.

“I don’t want to leave the cat out of the bag. Erik now has a serious medical condition. I am not going to violate hipaa or privilege, but if there is someone who needs to be released – especially a month before the hearing – it is Eric,” said Geragos, arguing with California Gov. “It’s a serious condition and I think he should be out to concentrate on the hearing,” he added. “I don’t want to get into the weeds of the medical condition, but I think that’s the right thing to do.”

Erik and Lyle, 57, are currently imprisoned in the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, California, after they have been convicted of their parents’ murders in 1989, José And Kitty Menéndez. The couple was found guilty of murder in the first degree in 1996 and was initially sentenced to life imprisonment in prison without conditional release.

However, after their case had drawn renewed attention, partly thanks to Netflix True-Crime Drama Series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez StoryThe brothers were brought to life in May for 50 years, so that they were now eligible for conditional release according to the Youth Connection Act of California.
