CJ ENM debuts AI Animation ‘Cat Biggie’ as part of the new AI strategy

Korean Entertainment Powerhouse CJ andM gambles big on artificial intelligence and reveals an extensive AI content strategy in addition to the premiere of the first fully AI-generated animation series “Cat Biggie” during an industrial event in Seoul on Monday.

The company, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, organized the CJ andM Culture Talk 2025 entitled “K-Content Meets AI: How Ai Technology transforms the future of the K-Content industry” into its Sangam Studio, where managers describe plans to revolutioner ai-technology.

“We apply AI in the entire content value for content-inclusive planning, production, distribution and marketing to extend the production of AI content in genres and formats,” said Shin Keun-Sup, Chief Strategy Officer of CJ andM. “This enables us to secure IP from the next generation.”

The Oscar-winning “parasite” producer demonstrated two important AI systems that are currently integrated into its production workflows. Cinematic AI is designed for narrative content such as drama and film, which integrates image, video, sound and voice seamlessly into one system, while automatically processing 3D characters and environments for consistent visual output and a big challenge in AI-generated video content.

The AI script system of the company acts as an AI agent for IP -discovery, analyzing consumer demand and market trends to identify promising properties and to suggest suitable genres and media formats. In contrast to conventional AI models of large technology companies, CJ andM says that its tool shows a superior understanding of literary language for deeper analysis of the marketability of content with cross-lingual possibilities.

“Cat Biggie”, the non-verbal short animation series that premiered at the event, represents CJ andM’s first full internal AI production. The series, which follows a cat that unexpectedly becomes father of a baby chick, consists of 30 episodes of two minutes produced by a team of only six specialists for five months-including content planning and character development.

“The most important challenge was to control and express the dynamic movements that are unique to animation,” said Baek Hyun-Jung, head of AI Business and Production, which led the project. “We used our tool, Cinematic AI, to convert the characters into 3D data and to train the production system accordingly. This allowed us to achieve a high level of completeness in the final output.”

The timeline represents a significant efficiency gain, because CJ andM notes that typical 3D animations of 5 minutes require three to four months of production time. “Cat Biggie” is launched on YouTube worldwide in July.

Building on the animation debut, CJ Enm is planning to expand within the year to AI film and AI drama productions and positions itself as what Shin called ‘a worldwide AI studio’ through team extension and development programs for makers.

The AI -Push of the company comes as the entertainment industry struggles with both the creative possibilities and the regulatory challenges of artificial intelligence. Sang-Hyeok IM, partner at Shin & Kim LLC, participated in a policy discussion during the event and emphasized the need for “guidelines of clear industry, legal frameworks for copyrights and data protection and dedicated government services to support the field.”
