Hud Sloot officially weaver building for new headquarters

The move was expected when President Trump called in the help of the Ministry of Government Efficiency (Doge) to direct waste and fraud. Civil servants mentioned the age of the Robert C. Weaver building and reported dangers, leaks and structural issues as reasons for the decision.
In April, HUD announced plans to coordinate with the General Services Administration (GSA) To add the current HUD head office “to the accelerated disposition list to involve the market and to explore HUD’s relocation options.” The building would require nearly half a billion dollars to meet minimal federal standards over the next four years, Hud said.
Cost-saving by Doge previously applied to the government to terminate lease contracts for some HUD field offices and USDA National residential services sites.

“It is time to run the page on the Weaver building and move to a new head office that prioritizes the well-being of HUD employees and correctly reflects the passion and excellence of our team,” Turner said. “There are serious concern about the current state of Hud’s headquarters, including health risks, leaks and structural and maintenance errors. Many of these risks will continue to absorb unnecessary and irresponsible by taxpayer Dollars.”
Turner continued: “Stories is about more than just changing buildings; it is about a mission -oriented shift that we hope will inspire every employee.”
The building of Robert C. Weaver, which is owned by the GSA, is’ far beyond the point of cost -effective repair, which creates significant financial obligations for the federal government if the occupation is maintained, “said HUD’s press release.
“The decision to move Hud’s head office is a step that reflects our dedication to tax responsibility and effectiveness of the mission,” said Michael Peters, commissioner of GSA’s public building service. “The federal building of Robert C. Weaver requires hundreds of millions in the long term repairs and this step will ensure that they have quick access to a modern working environment that meets their needs.”
Hud stated that after the announcement it will implement a spread relocation plan for employees, in coordination with the GSA.
