Cricket Comedy Series ‘Strikers’ calls Josh Kirby, Jonathan Veles

The upcoming comedy series “Strikes”, played in the world of Cricket, has tapped the writing team of Josh Kirby and Jonathan Veles to pennen the pilot, Variety has learned exclusively.

The series was reportedly in the making in February for the first time. As reported at the time, it comes from fellow makers Dana Abraham and “Queer Eye” star Bobby Berk. Both are also confirmed to Star in the series together with Shaun Majumder and Nazanin Mandi.

The series is preparing for production under the creative banner of Abraham’s Red Hill, with plans to quickly release it to studios and buyers. Tony Williams joins Abraham as a producer, while Berk, Jacob Silvera, Majumder and Danny Treibatch complete the executive producing team.

“They bring the experience and raised comedy to the unique story, with so much love and care for the culture and sport of Cricket,” said Abraham. Berk added: “” The couple is fearless, they are funny, and they have already made moments that fans will have the characters for the coming years, which promotes the impact of our show worldwide. ”

Kirby and Veles initially met as artists on board a cruise ship. Since then they have returned to the coast and have worked together as a writing team of shows such as the hit Sitcoms “The Real O’neals” and “Fresh Off the Boat.” They have also developed projects with Universal Television, Spectrum and Amazon. Earlier they developed their Sundance-Selected pilot ‘Rock the Boat’, based on their real experiences, as a project at Max with Greg Berlanti.
