Google’s DeepMind UK team reportedly seeks to unionize

About 300 members of the AI-oriented DeepMind team of Google try to trade union with the Communication Workers Union, according to A financial time report That quotes three people involved in the trade union efforts.
These DeepMind employees are reportedly unhappy about Google’s decision to remove a promise not to use AI for weapons or surveillance of its website. They are also worried about the work of the company with the Israeli army, including a cloud computing contract of $ 1.2 billion that protests has argued elsewhere with Google.
One source told the FT that team members feel ‘cheated’, and it is said that correspondence is said to show that at least five DeepMind employees have stopped referring these issues. DeepMind has around 2,000 employees in the United Kingdom.
A Google spokesperson said the FT that the company encourages ‘constructive and open dialogue with all our employees’.
A small group of about 200 employees of Google and her parent company Alphabet previously announced that they were a trade union, although as a trade union that represented only a small piece of the total Google personnel base, it was unable to be negotiated jointly.
