Trump administration reportedly considers a US DeepSeek ban

The Trump administration is considering new limitations on the Chinese AI Lab Deepseek that would limit it to buy the AI chips from Nvidia and possibly get Americans to gain access to its AI services, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.
The limitations are part of the Trump’s efforts to compete with China on AI. Months after Deepseek shocked both Silicon Valley and Wall Street, American officials seem to weigh different options to limit the access from China to American technologies and consumers.
On Tuesday, the White House Moved to limit more of the AI chip sale of Nvidia to ChinaStrengthening rules created by the Biden Administration.
The popularity of Deepseek among us has risen in recent months and the competing prices of the startup have forced Silicon Valley to offer Frontier AI models at lower costs.
