Google’s I/O developer conference set for May 20-21

Google Tuesday confirmed that the annual developer conference was set up on 20-21 May 2025. The event will be held at the usual location, the Shoreline Amphitheater of Mountain View, a few minutes-dependent from the traffic of Google HQ.

The two -day event is a mix of both public and developer -oriented content. CEO Sundar Pichai starts things with a large keynote on the morning of Tuesday 20 May, before he makes way for smaller Breakout sessions for an army of developers.

Last year’s show was overloaded with news aimed at Gemini, the generative AI platform of Google, and there is no reason to expect that this year would be different. Although I/O has centered around AI in recent years, the space continues to heat up, thanks to competitors such as OpenAi and Deepseek.

For those who can’t wait a few months, the I/O 2025 Site is already active with some developer content from previous years, including GemmaGoogle AI StudioAnd Notebooklm.

The developer season starts in full force with Nvidia’s GTC on 17-21 March, completed by Apple’s WWDC in June. This year, Google also has a heavy competition in the form of Microsoft Build, which is set for May 19-22 in Seattle.
