Walt Disney Animation Production Employees Ratifyify 1st Union Contract

Employees of production management at Walt Disney Animation Studios have officially ratified their first trade union contract with the studio.
This agreement comes after an intense organization in which a Supermajority of production workers voted in February 2023 to sail into trade unions.
The statement confirmed the suitability of full-time production coordinators, production superfisors and production managers to make trade unions with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage employees and the Animation Guild, Iatse Local 839.
“It was a tough journey, but we finally reached the mountain top. We are in our breakthrough – stronger, brutal and United, “said production coordinator Tamara Lee.
According to the contract, production workers will now receive protection, including pension and health benefits. In addition, the substantial wage increases to the minimums are protected: an increase of 24% for production managers, an increase of 29% for production supervisors and an increase of 35% for production coordinators-the lowest paid employees in the unit.
Union organizer Allison Smartt said: “During this recession in entertainment production, production management workers stood up at one of the most powerful companies in the world and demanded more. Their daily fight for fair treatment and wages is often outside of public interest. ‘Smartt added: “They signed petitions, marching to deliver signatures, organize courageous silent protests for managers and regularly the struggle to conduct their honest share and give an inspiring example. They have won a historical contract that will have positive consequences in the future and in the animation industry and I know they are not ready yet. “
There are currently negotiations with Dreamworks -animation for their first contract, marking the second time that the employees of Feature Film Production Management have organized with tag -this time including their television opposite hits.
Production -Supervisor Nicholas Ellingsworth said: “In Hollywood we love an underdog story. Our ratification was precisely that – the under -representative and underpaid come together and demand better wages and equity with our artistic counterparts. Eventually we were heard and seen, and we have a path to further improve the circumstances in which production management works. “Ellingsworth continued to say:” We know that our colleagues are at Dreamworks Animation in the middle of their negotiations and we wish them all the happiness, patience and perseverance in their conversations. Production management is no stranger to strategies to achieve their goals and to navigate unexpected obstacles. There is no doubt that they will come at the top. “
