Walking Dead: Daryl-Carol Reunion in ‘Daryl Dixon

AMC unveiled the first 14 minutes of Sunday’s episode of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol” Friday at New York Comic Con, showing the on-screen reunion between Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier Melissa McBride.

“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol” picks up where the first season of “Daryl Dixon” left off and follows fan-favorite characters Daryl Dixon (Reedus) and Carol Peletier (McBride). They both confront old demons as she fights to find her boyfriend and he struggles with his decision to stay in France, causing tension at the Burrow. Furthermore, Genet’s (Anne Charrier) movement builds momentum, putting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for France’s future.

The sneak peek of Episode 4’s opening, which was not included in the NYCC livestream and was exclusive to fans attending the panel at the Javits Center, showed the moment Carol finds Daryl in prison in France.

Reedus cut short his response to the emotional plot for Daryl by saying that “the only person in the world he needs is there.”

“It’s hard for me to watch it and not tear up a little bit, as corny as that sounds,” Reedus said. “The thing about that relationship is when we started [‘The Walking Dead’]it was about Rik. The show was about Rick. It was about Rick’s journey, and everyone around Rick, right? And it branched out into everything. But these two characters always had each other in mind the whole time. And they got bigger. and then we got Cherokee Rose, and then that was a thing. And they always had a bond, and they both came from a place of abuse, and they always had each other’s back. So when you see them on screen now, it’s deserved. It’s not two actors playing the role of someone. They know each other, it’s real. So when we do scenes together, and she cries, I cry too. The bond is so strong, but you feel it is real.”

McBride added: “Norman and I don’t rehearse much or talk about the scenes we’re going to do. We just show up as the character, know where we are in the story and make things happen as we film. And that’s what I love about working with Norman; you never know what you’re going to get. And it is always so fun, beautiful and surprising.”

The “Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol” panel featured Reedus and McBride alongside Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of the “Walking Dead universe,” showrunner David Zabel, director and executive producer Greg Nicotero and cast member Louis Puech Scigliuzzi.
