TJ Holmes in ambulance with Amy Robach after marathon injury in Chicago
TJ Holmes was taken to the hospital via ambulance after sustaining an injury while participating in the Chicago Marathon.
Holmes, 47, undertook the running event on the side Amy Robach on Sunday, October 13, Robach, 51, shared on social media that her partner had been injured. “Mile 21 and the Achilles gave up,” Robach wrote via Instagram stories above a photo of Holmes’ legs strapped to a stretcher in an ambulance.
Three hours later, Holmes shared an update of his own via Instagram, posting a photo of him lying exhausted on the stretcher and covering his waist with a blanket. A second photo in his Instagram carousel showed his legs tied up, while an additional video, apparently filmed by Robach, showed Holmes listening to instructions from a first responder caring for him.
“So this happened. The full story follows…. 😢#DNF #chicagomarathon,” Holmes captioned his post.
Less than an hour prior to Robach’s post, the reporter had shared a smiling selfie of her and Holmes running alongside a crowd of participants in the 26.2-mile race.
The former Good morning America co-anchors, who revealed earlier this month that they are living together ‘full-time’, share their love of running and will compete together in the New York City Half Marathon in March after competing in the event together as colleagues for the first time in November 2022 had participated.
Robach had been married before Andrew Shuewhom she reportedly divorced in August 2022. In December of that year, she filed for divorce from Shue.
As for Holmes, he was married to a lawyer Marilee Fiebig before reportedly divorcing her that same month. The couple also filed for divorce in December.
During the June 12 episode of Holmes and Robach’s “Amy & TJ” podcast, Robach revealed that some of their GMA Colleagues cut ties with the couple after details of their romance became public.
“So we went back to work two days after the shall-not-be-named tabloid released those photos,” Robach said during the podcast. “As we mentioned, I just discovered we were in a private relationship. They didn’t catch us cheating, that wasn’t what happened. But when we returned for those two days, we were surrounded by support. My dressing room was full of all our colleagues.”
Holmes interjected during the episode that some of their colleagues’ sentiments were “fake” and absolute “BS.” Robach went on to say that after she and Holmes were fired from their jobs, many of their coworkers disappeared from their lives as well.
“But once it became clear we weren’t coming back, I never heard from most people again,” Robach admitted.
