The Alexander brothers were denied bail on federal sex trafficking charges

Tal and Oren Alexander remain in prison.

Along with Oren’s twin brother Alon, the two former luxury real estate agents were denied bond Wednesday in the federal sex trafficking case against them. The three brothers are said to have been guilty of a plan in 2010 to systematically drug and rape dozens of women.

Judge Valerie Caproni of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York made the ruling on Wednesday during a detention hearing. The news was first reported X by journalist Matthew Russell Lee of Inner City Press.

In the Florida sex trafficking charges against the brothers, a state judge released Oren and Alon on bail pending sentencing at the federal level. Wednesday’s ruling supersedes the state’s ruling and the brothers will not be released.

At previous bond hearings, the Alexanders had offered exorbitant sums of money and lucrative properties as surety. Oren and Alon had been granted bail of $3 million and $2 million respectively, with both amounts secured by their father’s home.

Things did not go so well at the federal level. Tal and Alon had not bonded before by a federal judge even as Tal offered $115 million. They responded by offering ‘any amount’, which was also rejected.

The brothers will be held and tried at a later date. The charges against them carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, with a guideline of life in prison.

Tal and Oren Alexander built a lucrative business representing celebrity and ultra-wealthy clients in residential real estate transactions, starting with Douglas Elliman in 2010 before its later founding Official partners, a luxury real estate agency affiliated with Side.

But last summer, three civil lawsuits were filed against one or more of the brothers for allegedly drugging and raping women. FBI arrested them in December on state and federal sex trafficking charges. Since their arrest, several women have filed civil suits. The Alexanders have denied all allegations.

Side has also sued Tal, Oren and Official Partners for defaulting on a $4.6 million loan made to the brothers in 2022, a case complicated by their incarceration. Official Partners folded in the months following the civil lawsuits over the summer. Tal and Oren claim that Side fabricated the default case regarding the loan.
