Texas-based MLSs announce data-sharing agreement

Three Texas-based multiple listing services (MLSs) are working together. The Houston Association of Realtors (HAR)San Antonio Real Estate Board (SABOR) and based in Austin Unlock MLS are entering into a data-sharing agreement that will give brokers access to each other’s listings, with the deal set to close by the end of the year.

“Comparative market intelligence allows agents to think differently about their own markets and provide their clients with more robust and customized market expertise,” Emily Chenevert, CEO of Unlock MLS, said in a statement. “Unlock MLS subscribers now have a massive data set at their fingertips that will deliver exponential value to their business.”

According to the three organizations, 80,000 MLS subscribers will have access to active, sold and off-market listings from all three groups within their existing MLS platform.

It is not the first time that HAR, SABOR and Unlock MLS have worked together. In 2023, they agreed to a major reciprocity deal that allowed subscribers to show properties in the three cities.

Data-sharing agreements are an easy way for MLSs to expand their borders without mergers and acquisitions or other more complicated arrangements – and some of these companies cover large swaths of territory. The Texas MLSs say the agreement will give brokers access to about 60% of the state.

Four smaller MLSs along Florida’s northeast coast in July realMLS, St. Augustine and St. Johns County Board of Realtors, Space Coast Association of Realtors and the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors – concluded an agreement. The partnership, known as Coast 2 Coast MLS Data Share, also provides subscribers with listings integrated into their own MLS platforms. The Hernando County Realtors Association is also expected to join by the end of the year.

“This partnership marks significant progress in our mission to provide exceptional resources to our members,” Gilbert Gonzalez, CEO of SABOR, said in a statement. “By sharing data, we increase our members’ access to critical information and foster a collaborative spirit that benefits the entire Texas real estate community.”
