Super Bowl champion Derrick Ward gets a mental health diversion program in a robbery case

Former Super Bowl Champion Derrick Ward won’t spend time in jail over allegations he robbed businesses in LA… TMZ Sports has learned that he has been placed in mental health care instead.

Court records show that a judge ordered Ward to enroll in the program during a hearing on Oct. 10.

According to court documents, Ward will now have to comply with all mental health recommendations from “Find Your Balance Center” and “Brain Health USA Center” for a period of two years.

Additionally, the former New York Giants tailback is also prohibited from possessing or using deadly weapons… and generally only keeping his nose clean during that 24-month period.

Ward had been behind bars for some time after prosecutors targeted him five charges of theft following claims that he used violence and fear to rob establishments – including gas stations – in and around Los Angeles in 2023.

Ward – who helped beat the Giants Tom Brady‘s undefeated Patriots in Super Bowl XLII – initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in January.
