Nelly Furtado says her daughter bullied her for using Auto-Tune on a new album
Nelly Furtado says her daughter saved her upcoming album with some blunt advice… calling her up because she thinks auto-tune sounds cool.
The singer-songwriter spoke with NME all about her upcoming album “7” … and she admits she went a little crazy when it came to auto-tune before her daughter shut her down.
Furtado tells her Nevis20, told her auto-tune isn’t cool, period… so it shouldn’t be anywhere near her new record.
Plus… NF says Nevis reminded her people that they love her music because it has so many dimensions – so she knew she had to dig deeper instead of relying on technology to get the job done
It’s a bit shocking that Nelly even considered using auto-tune… as she wasn’t a fan of the technology earlier in her career. She gave an interview in 2004 in which she said she never uses the technology. Also watch the clip: she seems quite unsure why someone would do that.
BTW…Nevis is also in the music industry and she helped her mother with the album – so her advice came from both a daughter and a colleague.

As for the album itself – her first since her 2017 record ‘The Ride’ – Nelly says she hasn’t set foot in a recording studio in three years… but she felt it was time to create again.
The album comes out on September 20th…no auto-tune included!
