Grace O’Marcaigh, King, 25, accused King, 26, of sexually assaulting her while she worked on a yacht in 2022 through a lawsuit filed in April.
To Diddy (real name Sean Kammen) was taken into custody this week, O’Marcaigh’s lawyer, Rodney S. Diggsdescribed the arrest as the “first step” toward “justice” in a statement We weekly on Wednesday, September 18.
“The long-awaited federal arrest of Sean Combs is the first step in obtaining justice for our clients,” Diggs said in the statement. “We leave the criminal aspect of this case to the people and the justice system. As for the civil cases, we bide our time until the facts emerge and pursue the justice our clients deserve.”
He added: “We also expect more victims to come forward. We knew this was coming. The evidence is very clear and it was only a matter of time. This is an important step toward justice for all of Mr. Combs’ victims, including my clients. Justice will prevail.”
We weekly has reached out to a Diddy representative for comment.
Diddy was arrested in New York on Monday, September 16. The next day, a fourteen-page indictment was made public, alleging that Diddy “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him.” The rapper has since entered a not guilty plea to charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
A New York judge denied Diddy bail on Tuesday, September 17, and he will remain in custody pending trial. He lost an appeal to overturn the decision on Wednesday, September 18.
Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifiloemphasized in an interview on CNN that Diddy is innocent The Source with Kaitlan Collins.
‘He’s innocent. I believe he is innocent. I believe he is innocent of the charges,” he said on Tuesday. “He is going to appear in court. And I believe he will win.”
A lawsuit filed by attorneys on April 4 in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleged that Diddy’s son King sexually assaulted O’Marcaigh while she worked on a yacht. The papers claimed the working environment had been ‘sold as a wholesome family outing’ but had turned into a ‘hedonistic environment’.
King was also accused in the lawsuit of sexual harassment and infliction of emotional distress. Diddy was sued in the same lawsuit for premises liability for chartering the yacht and for aiding and abetting King in the alleged attack.
Days later, an attorney for Diddy and King responded to reports and condemned one of the attorneys representing O’Marcaigh.
In a statement to Us on April 8, lawyer Aaron Dyer warned the public to approach the claims with skepticism, pointing the finger at the plaintiff’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburnwho filed the lawsuit along with Diggs.
“We haven’t seen this woman’s claim, but I’m sure we can expect the same kind of fabricated lies… just as we saw in Rodney Joneslawsuit – which has yet to be served,” Dyer said in a statement Us at the time.
“[Blackburn] was struck earlier this week by a federal judge in New York for his “pattern of conduct” in “inappropriate [filing] filing cases in federal court to attract media attention, embarrass defendants with salacious accusations, and pressure defendants to settle quickly,” Dyer continued.
Dyer referred to a lawsuit from Judge Denise Cote that suggested Blackburn had a history of filing lawsuits aimed at attracting media attention and pressuring high-profile defendants to settle quickly.
Blackburn has faced similar accusations in the past, including from lawyers representing the case Nicki Minaj, T.I And Tameka “Little” Harriswho accused him of participating in a “foul shakedown campaign” to extract settlements from the artists.
“Two days after being referred to the Disciplinary Committee in the Southern District of New York, it is interesting that he has chosen to file new charges in California,” Dyer’s statement concluded. “This is just another page from that same playbook, as we learned about this lawsuit the same way someone hears about Mr. Blackburn’s files: through the media.”
King broke his silence on the matter on March 29, days after he was arrested and later released by law enforcement. He posted a message via Snapchat saying “Stop the 🧢,” using the slang term “pet,” or lying.
