Gmail gains an ‘Add to calendar’ button, powered by Gemini

A handy new Gmail options powered by Google’s Gemini Ai has arrived for Google Workspace customers. From MondayUsers can add events to a Google agenda directly from an e -mail.

Gemini will automatically detect agenda-related content in an e-mail and present a button “Add to agenda”. After you have clicked the button, the side panel in Gmail is opened to confirm that the event has been added to the calendar.

Google notes in a blog post that the function is only available in English and on the internet for the time being. An agenda event made via the “Add to agenda” button does not include other guests, and it will not appear for e-mails with already pull-out events, such as restaurant and flight reservations.

Administrators can make it possible to make “add to agenda” by switching on smart functions and personalization from the Workspace Admin Console.

“Add to calendar” is only the newest tools Gemini-driven to reach Gmail inboxes. In June 2024, Google added new possibilities to Gmail on the internet to help users write e -mails and summarize e -mailthreads, to ask questions and find specific information from e -mails in an inbox. Some of those possibilities came to the Gmail apps for iOS and Android by the end of last year.
