Full House’s Dave Coulier diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer

“Full House” star Dave Coulier revealed Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of blood cancer.

Speak with Hoda Kotb about “Today” show, the 65-year-old said he was diagnosed five weeks ago and has undergone three surgeries since then. “I lost a little bit of hair,” he said. “I look a bit like a baby bird now.”

The first sign that something was wrong, he said, was when he caught a cold and noticed a lump the size of a golf ball in his groin.

“It swelled up immediately,” Coulier said in an interview interview on Today.com. “I thought, ‘Wow, I’m either really sick or my body is really reacting to something.'”

After visiting the doctor to run some tests, Coulier received his diagnosis. “The first thing I said to them was, ‘Wait a minute, cancer?’” Coulier, adding that it felt “like I was punched in the stomach because it never happens to you. You always hear about it happening to someone else.”

After learning that his cancer was stage 3 — meaning the disease has not yet spread beyond the lymphatic system — Coulier immediately began chemotherapy and underwent surgery to install a port to supply his body with drugs.

“You hear chemo, and it scares you,” he said. “The first round was quite intense because you don’t know what to expect. You don’t know how you’re going to feel. Is this going to affect me right away? Will it be devastating? Should I run away from here?”

Coulier will undergo six rounds of chemotherapy every 21 days, and treatment should be completed in February. “It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster,” Coulier said of his cancer journey. “There [are] Days when I feel incredible. Then there are other days where I just lay down and let this be what it will be.

Because the cancer has not spread, Coulier added that the cure rate is more than 90%. “It’s very treatable,” he said.
