Following feedback, ICE is revising the Encompass SDK transition timeline

Customers who want to use it ICE mortgage technologyThe legacy Software Development Kit (SDK) technology on Encompass will have a six-month grace period from the original transition deadline of October 31, 2025 to the API-based platform before incurring charges.

The company did not characterize the new transition timeline as a delay, but rather an “extension” offered to customers who may need additional help migrating code to the more modern architecture on Encompass.

In an email sent to Encompass customers Thursday, Tim Bowler, president of ICE Mortgage Technology, said that after “extensive engagement” with customers, he has heard “two very clear messages” that ICE will use to drive its approach with regarding the transition.

“First, driving efficiency and improving the lending experience are top priorities for you. ICE is investing in delivering an API-first, cloud-based platform that reduces latency and replaces legacy architecture. Customers who switched to our API-based solutions see an average financial benefit of $149 per loan (independent research from MarketWise Advisors Q1 2024). Feedback from partners and customers also shows that API calls significantly outperform SDK calls in terms of speed, resulting in significant monthly savings on CPU and server maintenance. Please note: These benefits are available to all Encompass customers without the need to move online.

Second, many of you have expressed a desire for a more gradual shift to APIs, preferring to postpone hard cut-off dates for SDK functionality until you are ready for a full transition to APIs. We also appreciate your interest in working more closely with ICE during this transition period and are committed to providing you with the support you need.”

ICE said that in order to continue using the SDK after October 31, 2025, customers will need to sign up for temporary SDK access. SDK calls will cost $0.50 per unit starting in May. The revised timeline calls for a complete sunset by April 30, 2027.

“We fully appreciate the complexity and additional effort for our customers in making this transition and will add a six-month no-cost grace period after the October 2025 date,” the company said in the email, adding that the date of termination would be “collaborative.”

As HousingWire reported late last month, ICE is also discontinuing its outdated CRM and moving completely to the more modern Surefire technology.
