Folie à Deux actor says cast knew film would bomb while making it
“Joker: Folie à Deux” was always going to be a flop, and even cast members knew that… this according to one of those actors.
Tim Dillon — a comedian who appears in the much-maligned film — stopped by “The Joe Rogan Experience” earlier this week … and during the three-hour discussion, the two chatted about TD’s new movie bombing at the box office.
Joe Rogan experience
Dillon is unequivocal here… literally calling the film the “worst movie ever made” – and saying he thinks the creatives behind it got cold feet when film critics criticized some of the first film’s themes.
TD is actually saying that he thinks the filmmakers over-corrected… because they didn’t like their film being praised for male anger and the love of the incel community – that they went too far and decided to simply Joaquin Phoenix in tap shoes.
Dillon tells stories of sitting with other actors in small roles and often asking out loud what the heck was going on with this movie. He says others were shocked because the film seemed to have no plot… adding that it would definitely flop at the box office.
Dillon plays a prison guard from Arkham Asylum in the film… which it absolutely did bomb at the box office – earning just over $200 million worldwide. The first film made over $1 billion and earned Phoenix his first Oscar.
Critics hate the film too… with the film only getting 32% on the reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
Maybe next time filmmakers should ask the guys in the role what they think!
