Eric Roberts apologizes to Sister Julia in New Memoir
Eric Roberts offers his sister a mea culpa, Julia Robertsand says it wasn’t cool for him to take credit for her career years ago… and he laments their broken relationship.
People has released several excerpts from the prolific actor’s upcoming memoir, “Runaway Train” … with the outlet saying he’s writing a public apology to Julia after years of estrangement.
ER used to say that Julia’s fame was quickly overtaking his… and he defensively told reporters that “there would be no Julia Roberts” without him charting the path.
Looking back on it… Eric calls the comment “asinine” – and adds that he hopes JR will accept the apology.
Eric pulls back the curtain on much of his life… and discusses his parents’ troubled marriage – when they separated, he moved with their father, and Julia lived with their mother – and the car accident of 1981 which left him in a coma.
He also delves into his past drug addiction… and admits that more tension has arisen between himself and Julia during a custody battle over his daughter Emma Roberts with his ex, Kim Cunningham – which Julia sided with. Eric was angry about the move at the time, but writes that in retrospect he thinks it was the right choice.
Eric, who is still estranged from his sister and daughter, says he knows he’ll go down in history as Julia’s brother and Emma’s father… and he claims he’s fine with that.
Eric’s public apology is now available… but we’ll have to wait and see if Julia accepts it.
