‘Crime Scene Kitchen’ adds guest judges Dominique Ansel and Ravi Patel

Fox’s Joel McHale-hosted baking competition “Crime Scene Kitchen” has revealed that James Beard Award-winning pastry chef and Cronut creator Dominique Ansel and “Animal Control” star Ravi Patel have been appointed as guest judges for the upcoming Season 3 episodes.

“Crime Scene Kitchen” is a culinary guessing game in which baking duos are tasked with decoding what type of delicacy has been created in the kitchen, leaving only the crumbs, flour trails and a few elusive clues. They must then recreate the recipe for celebrity judge Chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp, who will determine how well their sweet treat matches the missing dessert.

Each episode features a safety bracket in the first round and concludes with an elimination bracket where one team is knocked out of the competition. At the end of the season, the group is left standing after all the baking and scavenging to win the $100,000 grand prize of “Crime Scene Kitchen”.

Patel (“Meet the Patels”), who stars alongside McHale on Fox’s sitcom “Animal Control,” will appear in Episode 6 of Season 3 “Crime Scene Kitchen,” airing Oct. 24, to taste and review the bakes with McHale and judges chef Curtis Stone and cake artist Yolanda Gampp. Two weeks later, pro Ansel will be on Episode 8 on November 14 to host the Safety Bake and give his expert opinion on the results.

For Season 3, Fox has added the twist: of the dozens of participating couples, six pairs are family members and six sets are friends, to test which dynamic works better together under pressure in the kitchen.
