Aimee Lou Wood about why she kept her Manchester -accent for ‘White Lotus’

Unlike many of the characters in season 3 “The White Lotus”, Chelsea is not American. She comes from Manchester, just like the actor who portrays her, Aimee Lou Wood.

Wood said that maker Mike White preferred her own accent compared to an American when she both tried during the audition phase. “I can do an American accent. But Mike just wanted my Manchester One, “Wood told Sun.

She thinks she often does not happen to an American because of a specific story.

“It’s the teeth! No Americans have my teeth. I think that’s really one of the things, “Wood added.

“I played an American in a play in Chicago and then this guy in the bar, he spoke to me and he went:” I knew. I knew it. Your accent was great, but I knew you were not American. You just don’t look American, “Wood said.

Wood clarified that she is able to do a credible American accent, but White thought that making her character was unnecessary American.

“He just didn’t see why she had to be American and why we had to add that extra low distance between me and her,” Wood said Elle. “So he said:” Let’s just make her out of Manchester. “And I had something like” great. ” And it worked. But it was so funny because everyone keeps being: “So you couldn’t do the American accent.” And now I have something like: ‘I have to correct these guys! I can do an American accent! I swear! “”
