My mother drank exactly like me, and I was also born to drink.” raised to be a man and drink like the male equivalent of my mother.”
Brolin, who previously had periods of sobriety, also reveals that he tried to keep his drinking out of reach of his two eldest children, but there was a point when his drinking “crossed a line” and affected his children.
He told the Sunday Times: “It was about caring for animals and not being there to look after an animal for a while,” adding that the pets were “close” to dying.
“And I thought, ‘That’s because of me,’” he added.
