Adriatic film and TV prizes to launch in Montenegro

The Adriatic Film and TV Awards, an event that recognizes the most important regional film and television performance in the countries of the former Yugoslavia, has been launched at the Cannes film festival.

The inaugural prices are held from 24 to 26 October in Porto Montenegro, Tivat, Montenegro, which serves as the most important partner of the event.

The winners are selected by the Adriatic Film and TV Academy, currently in formation, which are active within the network of festivals in the Adriatic region. This network was founded by the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Zagreb Film Festival and the author Film Festival in Belgrade.

The Adriatic Film and TV Awards build on the legacy of the Sarajevo Film Festival’s Heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV series, which are no longer held. The new concept is expanding the scope to also include prizes for film performance.

The Academy will bring together more than 500 film and television professionals from the region, many of whom have previously served jury members for the heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV series.

Voting starts in June 2025 and the nominations are announced during the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, which takes place from 15 to 22 August.

The prize -giving ceremony will collect leading regional talent, “offering a platform for networks, experiential exchange and the international promotion of regional TV and cinema.”
