Rune Aero uses Nvidia GPUs to cut virtual wind tunnel costs by 80%

Rune Aero has brought about a revolution in his aircraft development process using an interactive virtual wind tunnel driven by Fysica AI, so that a reduction in early design costs by 80%, while the payload capacity was doubled and fuel consumption was reduced by 50%.
The groundbreaking Digital Twin technology combines Luminary Cloud’s Nvidia Cuda-X-Druled CFD simulations with a Nvidia Omniverse Blueprint for Real -time computer -supported Engineering Digital Gemini. Ultimately, engineers can immediately observe aerodynamic effects when changing designs. This transforming approach has compressed what traditionally months of iterative physical tests required in a continuous, real -time optimization process for starting the autonomous cargo aircraft.
The company made the announcement on Nvidia’s GTC 2025 in San Jose, California.
AI Physics transforms aircraft economics with real -time design optimization
Rune Aero, founded in 2023, is developing a sustainable and autonomous aircraft for the growing air freight market for medium miles. As a new startup, they embrace physics AI, a modern approach to rapid design exploration. The acceptance of Rune Aero of the virtual wind tunnel shows how engineers of the space design can quickly analyze many prototypes of the aircraft design, repeat designs and visualize the impact in real time.
By carrying out virtual wind tunnel tests earlier in the design process, Rune Aero reduces the future technical risk and costs compared to only confidence in conventional physical wind tunnel tests.
The company said that the results are transforming: 70% reduction in operators for freight operators by optimized aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, the payload capacity and 50% lower fuel consumption doubled. For operators, this translates into profitability with double digits that fundamentally change the air freight economy.
Luminary Cloud developed the interactive virtual wind tunnel by combining its GPU-Native CFD solvers using NVIDIA CUDA-X-BIBLIIGHESKEN, the Physicnemo AI Training Framework and Omniverse Visualization-Api to deliver Digital Twin-Eighings. This technology stack makes other digital twin environments possible, with the possibility to include Real-World data in the AI platform of physics.
“AI-physics models are essential for real-time interactive engineering analysis and design, but require enormous amounts of data,” said Tim Costa, senior director CAE EDA and Quantum at Nvidia, in a statement. “With the accelerated CFD solver from Luminary Cloud, customers can generate the high-fidelity data needed to train the underlying AI-physics model in Nvidia Physicsnemo within a few hours.”
“It is exciting to collaborate with space companies such as Rune Aero that are willing to use new design optimization techniques. By quickly performing a large database with simulations, Rune Aero -Soningieurs can arrive faster to come up with a feasible design,” said J. Luminary Cloud, in a statement.
“In the early stages of aircraft development it is fast, accurate and cost -effective design feedback from the aircraft essential. The virtual wind tunnel from Luminary enables Rune Aero to test configurations earlier in the process, reducing our early development costs with more than 80% of the Windsesbestesingen, traditional tunnels comparing metaltesesingen, to be the same -tunnels comparingbesesesingeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningeningen halfingtingeningeningeningeningeningeningen half -tingeningeningeningeningen statiesingeningen by the comparisonteskeskesingeningen allies by comparisontingeningeningeningeningeningen statiesingeningeningeningeningen statiesingeningen fewitioningly against the comparisonteskesketingeningen all -tunnlingingeningen all -tunnies, with more comparisontesesesesesesesestes’s Tunnelsingen Auda, Cofounder from Rune Aero, in a statement. “The optimized aircraft configuration of Rune, as a result of these tests, improves the aerodynamic lift-to-to-drag ratio, combined with advanced propulsion, this doubles, this load and reach, while burning the fuel, leaves the operating costs for our customers.”
Luminary Cloud and NTOP today also announced a new integration with NVIDIA Physicsnemo who reduces AI-design optimization of weeks or months to just a few hours. By seamlessly connecting the parametric geometry generation of NTOP, the GPU-Native simulation and simulation management platform of Luminaryy, and NVIDIA Physicsnemo via NIM-Microservices, engineers can now create hundreds of design variations in a single day-to-day trial of the day-to-one-day-one-day-one-day-one-day-one-day-one-day-one-day-one Manual efforts of manual efforts of manual efforts of manual efforts of manual efforts of manual efforts into manual efforts.
