Who killed Cal? – Sterling K. Brown, Dan Fogelman interview

Spoiler alert: This article contains large spoilers of ‘The Man Who Hold the Secrets’, the final of season 1 of ‘Paradise’, which is now streaming at Hulu.

The first season of “Paradise” was officially finished on March 4, where the murderer was revealed if none other than … Trent.

When he felt comfortable in Paradise, Trent felt that he deserved to survive … but then Cal saw the library enter and was reminded of what happened.

“We knew that who was the murderer would be a big question in everyone’s thoughts. We wanted it to be satisfactory, and we wanted it to be attached to the larger whole of the bunker – how this thing was made and the kind of idea above and below to who was chosen and it remains, “says Maker Dan Fogelman tells Variety of the unveiling. “So we had always had a eye on that someone there has been hiding light in sight all the time. And the big breakthrough was when we not only decided that it would be the librarian, but that it would be the person who originally tried to kill the president. ”

Brown tells Variety He has read the first three episodes of the second season and that the tone will be ‘something else’. Earlier, Brown compared the show with “lost” and with “The Wire”, the latter because the season changes in season – he says it is still “an appropriate comparison”.

“Structurally we will get to know people on the outside and then also a kind of flashback in their lives,” says Brown. “If ‘lost’ and ‘The Wire’ would have a baby, it would be ‘paradise’.

While a drama, “paradise” really fitted in a genre like the other series did. “We are potentially in a world that has experienced trauma for the first time, so there are elements of that kind of Cormac McCarthy’s ‘The Road’ kind of storyline, but we also have a large science fiction genre story to tell, and there is more mystery about the bunker than what has been revealed in season 1,” says Fogelman.

Although the second season will introduce more mysteries, especially about whether Xavier’s wife lives and what happens in the outside world, there is also “a bigger story for the show”, Fogelman teases.

“Hopefully in a similar way such as how the librarian had small Easter eggs who hide in sight, and he was ultimately the murderer, this first season is very much the Easter eggs for a much bigger story that we intend to tell,” he says. “There is a much larger, propellent and hopefully satisfactory story for the bow when you look at the big bow of three seasons of the show.”

Fogelman confirms that new cast members will participate in season 2, because there is clear some Type of life outside paradise. However, the fan forase sites are still back.
